TL;DR: Looking for a plumber in Eveleigh? We clear blocked drains, chase down hidden leaks, repair burst pipes and sort out no hot water. Licensed plumbers, a fixed price before any work starts, and no charge to come out and quote. Call or book online and tell us what’s wrong.

Eveleigh is small. About half a square kilometre of inner-city Sydney, roughly 3km south of the CBD, sitting inside the City of Sydney council area with Redfern station a short walk away. That tight footprint hides a lot of plumbing variety: brick terraces with narrow side paths, low-rise apartment blocks, a high share of social housing, and newer builds going up around the Redfern North Eveleigh renewal precinct.

What most of it has in common is age below ground. The suburb grew up around the Eveleigh Railway Workshops, which ran from the 1880s until 1988, and plenty of the surrounding housing stock dates from that era. Old earthenware sewer lines, cast iron stacks, galvanised water pipe and drains that were never designed for modern water use.

The calls we get most often from inner-city homes like these

  • A shower or laundry drain that empties slower every week
  • Toilet gurgling, backing up, or flushing weakly
  • A damp patch on a party wall or under a kitchen cupboard with no obvious source
  • No hot water, or hot water that runs out after one shower
  • A burst or split pipe soaking a floor or a downstairs neighbour
  • Drain smells that come and go, usually worse in warm weather
  • Taps and mixers that drip no matter how hard you turn them

Terraces, tight access and old drain lines

In older terrace streets the sewer line often runs the full length of the property and out through a shared or rear boundary. Roots, grease and old broken joints do the damage. A machine and a snake will get water moving again, but if the same drain blocks twice in a year, something down the line has failed. That’s when we put a camera in and look, rather than guess. Our blocked drain work is built around finding the actual cause, so you’re not booking the same job again in six weeks.

Access matters here too. Narrow frontages, no driveway, timed street parking, and a courtyard you can only reach through the house. Tell us that when you book. We bring drop cloths, take boots off inside, and wipe the work area down before we leave, which matters a lot more in a two metre wide hallway than it does in a big backyard.

Units, warehouse conversions and shared plumbing

In a block or a converted building, one problem is rarely one apartment’s problem. A blocked stack shows up as a backing-up floor waste two levels down. A slow leak inside a wall cavity ends up on someone else’s ceiling. We work through it in order: find where the water is actually coming from, work out whether it sits inside your lot or in common property, then explain that clearly so you know who needs to authorise the repair before anything gets pulled apart.

Toilets in units cop constant use and the cisterns are often the cheapest part of the fit-out. Running water, weak flush, water on the floor behind the pan. Most of it is a parts and seals job the same day, and we cover it under toilet repairs.

Hot water and gas in a small footprint

Space is the constraint in Eveleigh. Storage units squeezed into laundries and external cupboards, instantaneous units bolted to side walls, and older systems that were sized for a different household. If yours has stopped heating, is leaking from the base, or can’t keep up with two showers, we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a replacement, and what fits the spot you’ve got.

Anything with gas gets treated as gas work, not plumbing work. Cooktops, heaters, hot water connections, a smell near the meter. That’s a licensed job every time, and our gas fitting is done under NSW licence #488187C, which carries a gas fitting endorsement.

When it can’t wait

Burst pipes, no water, or a gas smell go straight to the front of the queue. We answer the phone after hours, and we’ll give you an honest ETA on the call rather than a vague window. In the meantime, shut the water off at the meter if you can safely get to it. Fast burst pipe repairs save far more than the repair itself, especially in a terrace or a unit where water travels straight into someone else’s home.

  4. We do the work, test it, and clean up.
  5. The job is backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own the home.

Jasco is a small family-run team, not a franchise. Bill or one of the licensed plumbers turns up in a signed van, and apprentices don’t get sent out on their own. You can read more about how the business runs on our about page.

Common questions

There’s nowhere to park on my street. Is that a problem?

No, but mention it when you book so we allow for it. Inner-city streets around Eveleigh and Redfern are tight, and knowing in advance means a more accurate arrival time.

I rent. Can I book you myself?

You can call and we’ll talk through what’s happening. For anything beyond an emergency shut-off, your landlord or property manager usually needs to approve the work, so we’ll give you something clear in writing to pass on.

My drain keeps blocking every few months. Why?

Repeat blockages in older inner-city lines usually mean a cracked joint, root intrusion or a section of pipe that has dropped. Clearing it treats the symptom. A camera inspection shows what’s actually wrong so you can decide on a permanent fix.

Do you cover the buildings around Carriageworks and South Eveleigh?

We cover Eveleigh and the surrounding inner-city suburbs, including Redfern, Darlington, Alexandria and Erskineville, for residential plumbing. Gas work for small commercial premises as well.

Will you find the leak without wrecking my walls?

That’s the aim. We locate first and open up second, and only where we need to. Guessing is what causes unnecessary damage.
